Letters of Recommendation

I am happy to write letters of recommendation for students I know well through coursework, research, lab participation, or other sustained academic interaction. To help me write a strong and detailed letter, please use the form below and submit your materials with enough advance notice.

Before you submit

  • Submit requests at least 3–4 weeks before the earliest deadline.
  • Provide complete materials so I can write a detailed letter.
  • Use this form once, even if you have multiple deadlines.

Expectations and policy

  • I can only write strong letters for students I know reasonably well.

What to prepare

The most helpful requests give me enough context to remember your work clearly and tailor the letter to the opportunity.

Letters are written under the expectation that you waive your right to view them. In most academic and professional contexts, confidential letters are considered more credible because they allow for more candid evaluation.
